The Dodgems has to be one of the favourite rides out of them all, we do many events that only have one ride and it’s usually the dodgems. These come in 2 types; the traditional as featured here where a lorry pulls into position and builds piece by piece, or the fold up style where the ride is trailer mounted. The advantage of the trailer mounted type is that it is slightly quicker to build and the track size is bigger but being new it is slightly more expensive.
Children who can reach the pedal can drive on their own the younger ones have to be accompanied and all children are to wear seatbelts.
Both tracks come with 17 cars
This Simulator has the wow factor, when I drive along the road people cant help but look and as it pulls on to the site it looks really special. Up 14 people sit inside the capsule whilst the 65inch TV screen shows an experience, the 1000 watt sound system has the screams and the capsule moves to the experience. One of the advantages of this ride is that it comes with many different DVD’s and they come in soft versions so on family days really young children can, and do, go in. This unit has an exceptionally good A/C unit which blasts cold air in during the summer and heat during the winter to make it an all year round ride.
It can easily go inside bigger venues and run off venue power or its own built in unit. A very good versatile ride for any event.
Because it is so quick it is also one of the best value for money rides.
The Carousel has to be by far the best looking ride out of them all, with the golden galloping horses this traditional ride has survived for decades in the industry because of its stunning looks. 36 galloping horses and a chariot or 2 and the organ playing in the background makes a perfect back drop for any picture. Over the past few years we have supplied these to many weddings and seen some fantastic photos of the bride on a horse. It has to be said whilst its the best looking ride it is also one of the most expensive due to the number of vehicles, staff and time it takes to erect.
There are a couple of modern ones on the market also which you would not know as modern as they are made to look traditional but they are fibreglass horses not wood, they are quicker to build by a couple of hours than the original ones that take up to 5 hours.
The Miami Trip seats up to 18 people side by side, the operator has full control with one lever and encourages the riders to scream as he moves it up and down and around and round, the banter from the operator and the many sound effects adds to the atmosphere and makes this particular ride very popular.
It also benefits the general event atmosphere as the spectators can see up close the riders facial expressions as it moves around.
The Big Wheel or Ferris Wheel as it is also called is a lovely traditional ride and very popular over the years, no matter what age you are, to go up in the air and over the top gives a fantastic view of the event and surrounding area and is a great feeling. Age limit is irrelevant as you can go with parents, grand parents, even loving couples enjoy the romantic feeling of the wheel at 46ft up, 12 cars will seat 2 per car or 2 adults and 1 small child.
Astroglide slide also know as Cascade slide, a rare ride these days as the inflatable slide made these redundant about 10 years ago. We got this one about 8 years ago and it has been very popular ever since. You climb the stairs carrying a hessian sack and at the top you sit down and put your feet in the sack and slide down one of the 3 lanes, and the 60ft long slide goes over bumps before being brought to a slow stop on the coconut matting at the bottom. If the event is for families, we have one lane set for fast by putting a lot of polish on it and another lane without so you end up with a fast and slow lane. If the event is for teenagers or adults we put wax on which makes it very fast. A good all round ride and in the price range is the cheapest ride.
The Helter Skelter is very similar to the astroglide but as you slide down on wood the speed is always kept slow, there are 2 types of this ride, the square one as shown and one shaped like a lighthouse, I have to say the lighthouse one is now rare and comes with a hefty price tag.
The Waltzer is one of the older rides and has been around for so long because it is very popular, 10 cars seating up to 8 per car can generate a lot of income, and in the corporate world they are one of those funny rides like marmite, you either love it or you hate it. The platform spins and the cars spin so you have to be able to take spinning and this makes it more popular with the females as they seem to take spinning more than men. The Waltzer comes on 2 lorries and takes a while to build so it is priced around the same as a set of dodgems.
The Twist has been around for some time now, they started as ground rides but over the years have been trailer mounted to this standard. A cluster of 4 cars on 3 arms seat up to 3 people per car, this is the ride where the person on the outside is squashed by their friends on the inside as the ride throws you from one side to another, a heavy ride and being 60ft in diameter makes it a big ride needing very good access.
The Orbitor is a very smooth ride, similar to the twist but it goes in the air, I recall when these first came over here it was tested with water buckets on the seats to see if it would spill, the action is very smooth and an enjoyable ride for all, price wise it is slightly more expensive that the twist.
The Freak Out, now we are starting to get serious this new big ride is a thrill to have at any event. You are secured into position and the ride starts to spin, then the pendulum action starts and you become horizontal. This is an expensive ride and prices for this start at £3,000 per day .
The Meteor also known as roundup is an underestimated ride that is good fun. It is not a top price ride but exciting and looks more scary than it is. You stand against the ride as shown and it starts to spin, the centrifugal action and g forge holds you in place. Not a big ride at 45ft diameter.
Super Spin, another of the newer rides with a big price tag, this ride throws you around all over the place, and can get through the crowds as it holds a lot of people and is a quick ride. Makes an ideal ride with the teenagers and looks good as well, as you can place this to the side of your event and the guest can enjoy the thrills of the ride
Ghost Train, been around for some time and always popular during Halloween, 5 cars will take you on a dark scary labyrinth of the unknown with scary characters and bodies scattered along the way. Not the most popular ride on the corporate market which is a shame as when we have had them out they have gone down well.
